Yes it may seem obvious, but what are the differences? They are in the same category…car or personal transportation, but Yugo does that one thing….basic transportation…… and Mercedes? It does more. It has convenience, safety, security, comfort, status.
I bring this up because people offering just one thing that is cheaper than Assisted Living are not offering a comparable product. Home monitoring components for example, or nutritionally correct delivered meals or universal design aging in place design build services. Each of these are just a piece. You cannot compare them just by noting price differences. You have to compare the product.
Some folks will be happy purchasing some or all of the above. It will fulfill their needs, That is Aging in Place’s strength…custom availability to meet YOUR specific requirements, even as they change. Not all of the above only as in Assisted Living (until you need MORE...then it is a la carte)
BUT Let’s get real. If we want Aging in Place to be a viable alternative…we must show how we meet the competition. Explain the benefits and let the educated consumer decide.

Great points you’ve made here, and all true to the reality of “doing business” in this day and age, in some respects… and timeless truths in some other respects, for sure!
