Aging in Place/Villages on Radio

by Louis on October 4, 2010

Kojo Nnamdi, a great talk show host on WAMU, one of DC’s public radio stations conducted a great conversation on the rise of the Village movement in DC. He had guests and callers from lots of points of view.

I called in and wrote in, too. It is easy to see that this issue, the ability to age in place, generates lots of interest.

Villages are one of the best ideas for promoting aging in place I have heard of recently. The ability for the services to come to people in their homes and also be able to enjoy aging in place is a great benefit. I hope the village phenomenon is successful, and makes people happier and more comfortable in their own homes. Retaining independence is very important for seniors, as research has shown it can promote better overall health and happiness. Thanks for sharing the radio show!
